Reading and conversation with Julia Voss, author of the recently published biography about the Swedish painter Hilma af Klint, and Walter Kugler, Dornach.
Her life was inspired by the spiritual movements and scientific discoveries of her era. Hilma af Klint (1862 – 1944) began creating radically abstract paintings in 1906, years before Vasily Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, Piet Mondrian, and others would take similar strides to rid their own artwork of representational content. She knew that she was ahead of her time: at the age of seventy, she decided that her work should only be shown 20 years after her death.
16. November (18:30), Buchhandel am Goetheanum: Reading and conversation (in German) with Julia Voss, author of the recently published biography and Walter Kugler, Dornach.
