In the beginning of November the 21st edition of the Singapore Writers’ Festival was held in Singapore.
The Embassy was delighted to bring in two well-known Swedish authors, Andreas Norman and Jonas Hassen Khemiri, to attend the festival. Both authors drew large crowds to their respective events which comprised of reading sessions, panel discussions and workshops and putting the spotlight on contemporary Swedish literature.
Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) is organized by the National Arts Council and is regarded as one of Asia’s premier literary events. The guiding theme this year was the Chinese word “jie” or “border”.
Ahead of the Singapore Writers Festival the Embassy organized an event at the Swedish ambassador’s residence where Andreas Norman and Singaporean writer, poet and social commentator Alvin Pang engaged in a conversation on the topic “how to create a good story”.
