Sweden's development cooperation in Serbia aims to strengthen Serbia's rapprochement with the EU and focuses on strengthening the judiciary and respect for human rights, including women's rights, as well as helping to reduce the country's climate impact and improve the environment.
Swedish support also aims to contribute to economic development and poverty reduction. Sweden is the third largest donor in Serbia and the leading donor in the environment and climate sectors. Several co-operation projects take place between Swedish and Serbian authorities, both at central and local level.
Partners are also international organisations, civil society organisations, development banks and the education system. Several projects involve municipal residents, young people and companies.
