The embassy, which was established in 1614, was the first Swedish Embassy abroad. The role of the Embassy is to monitor, represent and promote Swedish interests in the Netherlands and within the international organizations in The Hague such as the OPCW, ICC, ICTY and ICJ. We also provide services to Swedish authorities, companies, organizations and individual citizens.
Bilateral relations between Sweden and the Netherlands are strong. The Netherlands is one of Sweden’s prime trade partners and many Swedish companies are present. Bilateral cooperation focus on innovation, sustainable green transition and security. These priorities are firmly based in the promotion of democracy, rule of law, human rights, diversity and equality. The Embassy works closely together in Team Sweden with Business Sweden, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Visit Sweden.

Sweden has diplomatic relations with almost all States in the world. It has embassies and consulates in around half of these. Sweden's foreign representation consists of approximately 100 missions abroad and 350 honorary consulates.
