Accept all Only criticalIn the European Commission’s 2021 European Innovation Scoreboard, Sweden again ranks at the most innovative country in the EU, as we did last year and ever since the measurement began in 2001.
Sweden’s strengths lie in its use of information technology, human resources, and attractive research systems. The top three indicators include lifelong learning, PCT patent applications, and international scientific co-publication. Our Nordic neighbours Finland and Denmark rank as number two and three in the cluster of innovation leaders, and in the international comparison, Japan ranks as a strong innovator ahead of the EU average. Important for Sweden’s innovation performance is the openness for international collaboration in research and innovation, for which Sweden and Japan have excellent opportunities!
