About us

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Dublin!

In November 2024 the Swedish Embassy opened in new office premises located on Pembroke Row, Dublin 2. The Embassy has a limited operation with only two diplomats in Dublin.

The main task of the Embassy in Dublin is to enhance Swedish-Irish bilateral relations, including political reporting and cooperation between Sweden and Ireland within the framework of EU cooperation, and promotion of Swedish culture, trade exchange and business interests. Ireland is an important likeminded partner for Sweden in many fields, bilaterally, in the EU and internationally.

Approximately 60-70 Swedish or Swedish-related companies operate in the Irish market. In order to support Swedish companies and increased trade exchange, Business Sweden (with offices in London) also works in Ireland. Furthermore, a Swedish Chamber of Commerce and other Swedish actors such as SWEA are active in Dublin.

On January 1, 2025, the honorary consulate in Dublin closed and the following consular tasks were transferred to the Embassy: to assist Swedes in an emergency situation; to ensure that arrested or deprived of liberty Swedish citizens be provided with public counsel and relatives informed, handle requests for coordination numbers. The Embassy is not authorized to issue or extend ordinary passports, but emergency passports can be issued for Swedish citizens.

Foreign citizens in need of a visa for travelling to Sweden should contact the Embassy of Denmark in Dublin, information here.
