Accept all Only criticalWelcome to the Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi. Diplomatic relations between India and Sweden were established in 1948. The embassy's office, residence and staff quarters were designed by the Swedish architects Sune Lindström and Jöran Curman. The 40,000 square meter park was created by landscape architect Walter Bauer.
The facility was inaugurated in November 1959 in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Swedish embassy is responsible for the honorary consulates in India (Kolkata and Chennai), Nepal (Kathmandu), Sri Lanka (Colombo), Maldives (Malé) and Bhutan (Thimphu).
The ambassador in New Delhi is also accredited to Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan.
There is a Consulate General in Mumbai.
Sweden has diplomatic relations with almost all States in the world. It has embassies and consulates in around half of these. Sweden's foreign representation consists of approximately 100 missions abroad and 350 honorary consulates.
