A passport check can be done only if you have received such a request from the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket).
To be able to do the passport check at the Embassy of Sweden in Rome, you need to show you have a valid residence permit within the Schengen area, or receipt of ongoing renewal of that permit.
Before you can visit the Embassy you need to book an appointment. It is possible to register photo and fingerprints in connection with the passport check.
You need to apply for a residence permit in Sweden. Different application procedures apply depending on your residence status in Italy.If you have the status as a “long-term resident” in Italy (soggiornante di lungo periodo UE/CE), you can apply for a residence permit after the arrival in Sweden and you can work during the processing of your application for residence permit.
If you do not have the status as a long-term resident, you must have been granted the Swedish work permit before you enter Sweden and start working.
An EU/EEA citizens has the right to work, study and live in Sweden without having to apply for a residence permit. This is called the right of residence. An EU/EEA citizen that is employed, self-employed, studying or have sufficient means for his/her support, has the right of residence in Sweden. If you fulfil the requirements for right of residence, you do not have to contact the Swedish Migration Agency.
If you plan to live in Sweden for one year or more, you are generally required to register at the Swedish population register. This procedure can only be initiated after entering Sweden. More information on the website of the Swedish Tax Agency.
Italy and Sweden are both members of the Schengen agreement. The citizens of its members and non-EU nationals staying legally within the Schengen Area can move freely within its borders.

You need a valid residence permit card. You cannot travel with the receipt of the renewal. If you must travel to Sweden, and you cannot wait until your Italian residence permit is ready, you can apply for a visa.
It is the Swedish Migration Agency that decides if you can be granted the visa.
If you are going to study in Sweden for more than three months, you need to apply for a residence permit. Different application procedures apply depending on your residence status in Italy and the circumstances for your studies.

You must report the lost/stolen travel document to the Italian police. Then you contact the Embassy of Sweden in Rome to book an appointment to apply for an emergency alien’s passport in order to travel back to Sweden. You have to bring the police report, return ticket and ID documents (if any) when you visit the Embassy.
