Collection at the embassy

• No appointment is needed to collect your passport or national ID card at the embassy, but collection is only available during specific opening hours.
• Adults over 18 must collect their passport in person. For children under 18, a legal guardian with a valid photo ID must collect the passport; the child does not need to be present when collecting the passport/national ID card.

What to bring when collecting your passport/national ID card

• Your current passport or another valid photo ID if the passport has expired.
• The receipt.

When your passport or national ID card is ready for collection, you will receive an automatic notification via email or text message.

Collection at a consulate 

You can collect passports and national ID cards at the consulates in Belfast, Edinburgh and Gibraltar. If you wish to collect your passport or national ID card at one of these consulates:

• If you apply for a passport at the embassy in London, inform us of which consulate you wish to collect it from during your appointment. Please note there is a postage and collection fee.
• If you apply at another passport authority, specify the embassy in London as the collection place when you apply for the passport. Then email the embassy at ambassaden.london-pass@gov.se with your name, personal ID number/coordination number, and the name of the consulate where you want to collect it. There is a collection fee and a postage fee.

If you applied for a passport at another passport authority

Regardless of where you apply for your passport, you can collect it at the embassy in London. If you apply for a passport in Sweden or at another embassy but wish to collect the passport in London, inform the passport authority when applying. Alternatively, you can contact the passport authority afterward to redirect the passport, please note this may cause a delay. There is a collection fee payable upon collection.

Pre-settled or Settled Status

If you have Pre-settled or Settled Status linked to your current passport or national ID card, and you replace your passport/national ID card, you must notify the UK Home Office of your new passport number. For more information, we refer you to British authorities.
