Applications for ordinary passports (or national ID cards) can be made at police authorities in Sweden and at Swedish Embassies abroad that are authorised to carry out passport services. Information is available on the Police's website and on regeringen.se. The Embassy in Dublin has not been authorised to issue ordinary passports, but can issue emergency passports (see information under a separate heading) if a passport has expired or been lost.
Collecting Passports
It is possible to collect passports at the Swedish Embassy in Dublin if specified at the time of application.
- After receiving a notification from the Swedish Police that the passport/national ID card has arrived in Dublin, it can be collected during the Embassy's visiting hours (see below). No appointment booking.
- Adults over 18 years must collect their passport in person. Passports for children under 18 years must be collected by a legal guardian/parent with a valid ID; the child does not need to accompany the parent for passport collection.
